Life as the effective therapist

" [Psychoanalysis] is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts.  Life itself still remains a very effective therapist."

Mental Illness

For many people who have mental illnesses, they need more than psychotherapy and medication. They need support from family, friends and others, especially from themselves.

As someone with bipolar disorder and the executive director of the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance of Northern Virginia, I am able to empathize with those with mental illnesses and help them on the path of recovery through sessions that focus on triggers, life change, anxiety, confidence, loved ones and a variety of other topics. I also assist loved ones of those with mental illness in learning how to help their loved one and take care of themselves at the same time.

Many life coaches refer clients with mental illnesses to psychologists and social workers. Instead, I believe I can add something to their lives in conjunction with proper medication management and therapy.

For families and patients, I provide comprehensive assistance before, during and after the hospitalization process, working with the hospital to make sure that the best possible treatment occurs, working to make sure the families and friends of the hospitalized person are kept abreast and to make sure the person being hospitalized receives as much information, comfort and guidance as possible.
